Greg Colson responded to Cheryl Simon Ekstrom's painting in the Circle of Truth art exhibition. Cheryl used plaster and paint in her offering pure white and thickly applied to the linen. She wanted it to disintegrate over time-to crack and fall off the linen. When Shane Guffogg and I went to pick up the project from Greg he was very eager to get Cheryl’s painting into our hands again. Saying, "I was afraid it would fall apart before

Todd Williamson #40 in the Circle of Truth Project Art Exhibition, is one of the artists who made the trip to the opening at The New Museum, Los Gatos Numu Los Gatos on October 18th. Todd is a charismatic artist who reaches out to other artists and the global art community at every opportunity. When Shane and I dropped off the project in May of 2012, Todd's Hollywood studio was filled to the brim with paintings of all sizes and colors with a singular focus. The pulse of something deeply…

Wow! Andy Moses in the Circle of Truth Project art exhibition. This painting makes you stop in your tracks. It is so luminous and beautiful. I watched people at the opening looking at it from all angles taking in the motion and depth of it. Andy’s painting caused an important zig zag in the course of the project - inspiring rebellion in the artists that followed.

Ed Ruscha painted the last painting in the Circle of Truth project. After nine years Shane Guffogg and I stood in Ed's studio to retrieve the project for the last time. Looking back there are so many moments that come to mind, but if I had only one thing that I could talk about, it would be how much I admire and respect the artists who took up the challenge of this project. These 49 artists were

Robert Williams painting offers the viewer a wealth of things to wonder about. Robert was among the last few artists on our "wish list" for the project. "I got the feeling from the painting that…

A shout out to Graham Howe, at Curatorial Assistance, who providing the amazing crate for the Circle of Truth. The crate is the one part of the show that went into each of the 49 studios. The crate held 2 canvases, one was the painting by the previous artist and the other was a blank canvas for the next artist to use when creating their response. The ingenious design of the crate allowed us to safely ship the wet paintings back and forth across the United States. It traveled more than 22,000 miles over the course of the project and preformed flawlessly!

Shane Guffogg is not only a co-curator of the Circle of Truth, he also painted the first painting providing the starting point of the project.
Here’s snap shot of Shane Guffogg from the Circle of Truth archives. The photo was taken in the days following the completion of his painting #1 the Circle of Truth. At this point the other 48 canvases were still blank and nothing was certain about what would happen once the project was released into the “wild”.
